auDA has appointed Dr. Bruce Tonkin as its new CEO, effective January 1, 2025. Dr. Tonkin, who has been auDA’s Chief Operating Officer since 2018, brings extensive experience in domain name policies and critical infrastructure, having previously held key roles at ICANN and Melbourne IT. The Board expressed confidence in his leadership as auDA progresses its strategic goals, including sustainability and reconciliation initiatives. Dr. Tonkin succeeds Rosemary Sinclair AM, who led auDA since March 2020. She will step down at the end of 2024.
Bruce is highly respected within the industry. His appointment has been welcomed by many in the industry including us at DNJ.
Alan Cameron said, “The Board is confident that Bruce, as a respected leader in the industry, is ideally placed to lead auDA as it continues to execute its Terms of Endorsement obligations, works to establish its forward five year strategy, drive growth in domain name registrations, embed its new Sustainability Framework and its Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), as well as support auDA staff to reach their full potential.”

It is expected that Bruce will commence at year’s end when current CEO Rosemary Sinclair AM finishes up.
